StarCraft: Gas (StarCraft campaign)

Post by Church »

StarCraft: Gas on ModDB

Before you say anything, it's VESPENE gas.

This is a lighthearted campaign, you know, a little like The Bob Levels. =D

Image

CHARACTERS

Image
Jim Raynor
I think mostly everybody knows who this is...
Very recently, during a direct attack on Korhal, our pal Jimmy was kidnapped. His Raiders are trying to bomb their way into the installation he was put in, but alas...

Image
Kari
A ghost with no apparent last name.
She appeared like most ghosts, out of the blue. She always has a plan, commonly invovling destroying a few structures.

Image
Billy
Here's a 'Rine who doesn't know when to quit. A long friend of Kari's, he's addicted to Stim Packs.
He doesn't play much of a role.

Image
Ashen
Portrait by Daelin
A Dark Templar. His planet was infested by the Zerg and many friends of his began to blame Adun.
Ashen complains about EVERYTHING.

Image
Vill Ain
That guy with the cheesiest name invented.
Vill is the man who kidnapped Jim and anything else I say would be plotspoiling.

Charlie
Portrait by Jasen
Who is this mysterious character?
PROGRESS
Version 1.03a complete! Download above!

Critique is very welcome ;) I made this campaign in hopes that somebody would find it fun, or at least get a kick out of it.

I'll be back!

Thanks! I'm just about done, I just need to finish up the mod. Due to lack of motivation, I probably wont be getting any screenshots right away xD

Well now that I've said that, look what I found. Here's the loading screen I made.
(EDIT: It's on the first post.)

Don't need to (to upload the screenies, I mean ;) ). I think we've enough of a preview with the video you already uploaded :). Moreover, by posting even more information you would risk to spoil some campaign's details. I don't find it necessary, specially when you're about to release your campaign ;).

I didn't played it yet, though I've made a quick review of the missions. The terrain looks fine. It may not be "oh my god, it's fucking perfect!" but it's not plain neither; it looks fine to the eyes. Indeed, I really liked how you made the terrain in some missions, specially that 64x64 jungle map with the brown zerg base (map 6, 7? I don't have access to the maps right now). In comparison with previous works, you've improved your terraining skills. However, you can still improve them further, so I encourage you to do so by making some maps for your own as some kind of "testing grounds". As of now, though, my congratulations to you. :)

As I said, not played anything else as of yet, but I'll really take a look into this. ;) I'll surely post my opinions on gameplay and plot once I'm able to. ;)

Thanks Omega! This will really help me :)

As for the terrain being better, well ANYTHING is better than the terrain in Reuniting xD Thanks again :D

Fine and funny, but too short and easy. :) I mean really short. Good work overall! Make more campaigns!

Thanks for the feedback :) I'll make more! =D

Edit: By the way, if you want I can add levels to the campaign. What else do you think it needs?

I think in the future you should work on/with (only my oppinion, cause I like them a lot) large(er) maps, with large scale battles, heavy macro mode, and maps, what favores strategical play. (killing a heavily defended zerg base for minerals, or open an easier route to the quest)
A good expamle of this is a recent campaign: Empire Wars by Robotronic. Emphasize on thinkig/macro/strategy with hard-to-kill-computers is a really good way to prolong the time of play. And everybody knows that long and hard campaigns are cool. :)
